Book Review: Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke **** – 4 stars
Author: Cassandra Rose Clarke
Published: October 2nd 2012
Blurb: Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan: she wants to captain her own boat, not serve as second-in-command to her handsome yet clueless fiance. But her escape has dire consequences when she learns the scorned clan has sent an assassin after her.
And when the assassin, Naji, finally catches up with her, things get even worse. Ananna inadvertently triggers a nasty curse — with a life-altering result. Now Ananna and Naji are forced to become uneasy allies as they work together to break the curse and return their lives back to normal. Or at least as normal as the lives of a pirate and an assassin can be.

This week I sat down with my husband to record some audio comments about this book. As usual we have tried to avoid giving away spoilers about this story!

Do you guys read books together? That’s so cute. I’m jealous, I want someone to read books with me!
Yes we do! We have formed our own book club and it is super fun..though I admit we tend to read more of the books I like LOL
That’s seriously adorable.
It is seriously fun, we should do a read along at some point!
Gorgeous review- love those blues. I don’t think I’ve read any books about pirates before but this one does sound like a fun adventure. Too bad about the ending though. That would frustrate me too!
Thank you! I was really proud of this one! I haven’t really either other than Treasure Island! It’s a series with a lot of potential but the end was a big disappointment!
Ooooh, I love the picture of Naji. I liked the blues about it because it goes with the cover. I gave this four stars too, and I think I was just getting into things and it did end prematurely which is why I’m looking forward to the next one more because I want things to progress more.
I really like your pictures of the characters and glad you managed to enjoy this one!
Thank you!! I was so proud of that one, I felt it really matched the character..and that is exactly why I chose to do lots of blue! I think the second book as you say will iron out the problems with the first one! Thank you for recommending it to me!
Another fabulous review. I heart her hair.
Thank you! I loved drawing this one, it was really fun!
I wanz dis! I even read a little at B & N and it sounds so good in the beginning. I think partly the reason it was so abrupt in the ending was because there is going to be a second book! I think that’s why. This book goes blue and mysterious and the next one is RED. Interesting color choices… But I love that there are pirates and assassins and adorable romance–ahh, I need this.
<3 Your review!
It’s really fun I enjoyed it and it was such a unique world it was refreshing!
A friend said the same thing about the ending. She liked to majority of the book, but was very frustrated by the ending.
It was so jarring and abrupt..and slow but quick in a weird way..it was disappointing but I will be picking up the new book. BTW are you excited about the adaptation of Austenland?
So excited! I haven’t read the book yet, but I hope to soon. I love Shannon Hale.
Wow the beginning of this book does sound really good and such a promising set-up! I’m disappointed that the story has an abrupt ending, I think this will be a good read for me when the second book comes out.
Exactly! That is what I wished I had done, I think I would have enjoyed it so much more if I knew I could jump to the sequel!
