Blurb: Recently banished, unfairly, by the school’s popular crowd, former “it girl,” Miranda Prospero, finds herself in a brave new world: holding dominion amongst a rag-tag crew of geeks and misfits where she works at the Hot-Dog Kabob in the food court of her local mall. When the worst winter storm of the season causes mall workers and last-minute shoppers to be snowed-in for the night, Miranda seizes the opportunity to get revenge against the catty clique behind her social exile. With help from her delightfully dweeby coworker, Ariel, and a sullen loner named Caleb who works at the mall’s nearby gaming and magic shop, Miranda uses charm and trickery to set things to right during this spirited take on Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

  1. Too bad about the editing issues. I love both Shakespeare and all kinds of retellings, but I get frustrated very quickly when there are editing and/or structural problems. It’s the fastest way to make me dnf the book.

    • There were a lot of spelling and grammar issues as well which was distracting! That is one thing I notice about a lot of self-published books is a that a lot of people send them out too early I think, as a result there is some writing that could be much better after a thorough spell check, grammar check and edit.Though I am not to saying there isn’t a lot of really good work as well!

    • It had a fun concept and it is a fun read but I felt it had potential that never panned out! It felt very episodic and I didn’t feel like all the aspects came together nicely to form a single narrative! Thank you :)

  2. That is so cool– how on earth did you do that? Never seen something like that before, LOL. Anywho, I agree with what you said about Tempest….it was more of a light and fun read than a dramatic one. Fab picture review! (:

  3. Gorgeous picture review – you are so good at getting your point across too! I’m actually more interested in reading this book now since you compare it to fun movies of the 80s-90s. And since I haven’t read The Tempest (for shame, I know) I won’t notice that the retelling isn’t all it could be. Though the editing issues are worrisome.

  4. Sounds like a fun, quick read. Shame about being not too connected to The Tempest. I remember quite enjoying that Shakespeare play, although I must have watched a hundred different versions of the film, so I was bored by the end. Shame about the editing points too, I do hate it when books need tightening up a little. I think taking more time rather than rushing to get it out would be so much better.

Still, I love your bright, colourful pictures! Great review as always!

    • I really love the play and I bet you that was part of the reason I was disappointed! I totally agree, if I ever do write a book I am not sending it out until it is perfect! Thank you, I really enjoy blogging, it is really fun!
